Lab frequently asked questions

1

How do I cancel or reschedule my test? What is the cancellation policy?

You may reschedule or cancel your appointment for free at any time prior to your appointment by using the links in your appointment confirmation email. There is no penalty for doing so, but we ask that you reschedule or cancel your appointment as soon as you become aware of the change in your plans, so that the appointment slot can be assigned to someone else.

2

How long does it take to receive my results after taking the Lilium test?

Results are available same day in most cases (otherwise results are available within 3 business days).

The results will be sent to your doctor, and shortly after that a copy of the results will also be emailed to you at the email that you will provide to us.

If you cannot find your results, please email us at info@liliumdiagnostics.com so we can help you to retrieve your results. We monitor our emails until 9:00 p.m. daily (Monday - Saturday).

3

How should I prepare for my Lilium test? Do I need to bring anything with me to the test?

You need to bring your prescription and RAMQ health card with you to your appointment, and your method of payment (we accept credit cards, debit cards, ApplePay and cash).

Please follow the instructions provided by your healthcare professional who gave the prescription (e.g. if you need to fast at least 8 hours before the test).
If no instructions were given to you, then you do not need to do anything except you should try to avoid alcohol for 24 hours before any test.

For urine tests, you should abstain from sexual intercourse for 24 hours before sampling, and avoid sampling during and up to 2 days after menstruation. More precise results can be obtained if the collection is done after you wake up in the morning (for this option we will provide a sterile collection container that you can take home, and bring back to our lab the next day); otherwise the collection can be performed at our clinic during your appointment.

4

Will the results be sent to my doctor?

The results will be sent to the health professional (e.g. your doctor) who provided the prescription (whom you will designate when you book the appointment).

We will also email you a copy of the results.

5

Will the cost of the test be reimbursed by my private health insurance?

Most private insurances will reimburse private diagnostic laboratory tests, but generally only up to a certain amount.

Doing your testing at Lilium means your out of pocket costs will be significantly lower, guaranteed*. We will provide a receipt that you can submit to your private insurance for reimbursement.

*Our Best Price Guarantee: if you can find the same tests at a private lab in Québec for a lower price, we will match it + give a $10 discount at your appointment at Lilium.

6

How can your test prices be so much lower than other private laboratories?

Lilium is a licensed and accredited laboratory (please note that most clinics do not have their own laboratory, but send the collected samples to one of the handful of laboratories such as ours), and we have recently setup our own private collection centers. By providing laboratory services directly to consumers like yourself, our wholesale prices allow you to save money.

We pride ourselves in being able to help our communities by providing high-end testing at the best prices, and have designed and thought about every detail of how to achieve this. We have invested heavily into the latest technologies, automation, designs and processes that translate to faster time to results and lower costs.

7

How does the quality of your tests differ from the same tests provided by other labs?

Lab tests can be performed at various levels of quality. We aim to always invest in the highest quality for each test (i.e. some of the highest quality test components, processes, equipment, and quality control), and we do not cut corners with our lab tests. For example, for our Covid antibody test, we test for both the Spike RBD and Nucleoprotein to give a more complete result (most other labs only test one of these, or charge you twice to test each one individually). And our standard STD test (which is a PCR test instead of a less accurate rapid antigen test) for chlamydia and gonorrhea includes testing for trichomonas, a STD parasite that is the most common cause of STI-associated vaginitis.

During Covid we built a reputation for providing high-end lab testing at the best prices in the industry. We were one of the only labs that tested each patient's sample individually, instead of combining many different patients' samples together (and testing them together) that many other labs did to save time and money. Since we tested every single sample individually, we were able to provide the Ct value of the sample (the Ct for both the sample itself and the Ct for any detected SARS-CoV-2) in each test report, something that we are not aware any other lab in Canada provided. In addition our lab came to be known to have the fastest turn-around of lab RT-PCR results in the country, and we were trusted by both healthcare professionals locally and by the airlines internationally.
In this same way, our ultimate aim is to provide the best blood and urine lab tests in the country, at the best prices and fastest turn-around times. We will continue to invest our resources for continuous improvements to achieve this aim.
